Asians and Friends Cleveland present unique
event at Gay Games 9
by Howard Gollop
Cleveland-Members of Asians & Friends Cleveland invites the LGBT community to join them and Asians around the world Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines as they celebrate diversity and Asian heritage at a special event for the Gay Games at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 14.
Called FantAsia, the special event takes place in the new Asian Town Center, one of the newest and most stylish
Asian malls in Cleveland's growing Asiatown district.
It happens on the second level in Negative Space Gallery, with a special "Buddha Lounge" set up for serving all sorts of Asian appetizers (including Lumpia Shanghai) all complementary. Drinks include sake and beer for a nominal donation. We will feature local art and live music from the Asian community, plus some locally produced video entertainment.
"This will be a chance to show the world, as well as our own LGBT community right in Cleveland, that we have a vibrant gay and Asian community," said Asians & Friends president Rollie Santos. "This will also be a great, free way to enjoy the Gay Games and mingle with international guests."
This event is free to all official Asians and Friends members and participants of the Gay Games, but you must register for a ticket online. For others who wish
to join in, a $5 donation is requested.
To be admitted, your paper ticket or e-ticket as well as a government issued picture ID with your date of birth (21 years old or greater) must be produced at the door. Public facilities in the city of Cleveland are smoke-free.
Asian Town Center Negative Space Gallery is located at 3820 Superior Ave, Secondnd Floor, Cleveland. In addition to a simple shared taxi, Uber or Lyft shared ride services to the venue, attendees can hop an RTA Number 3 bus from Public Square and all points along Superior Ave. The travel time is about 10 minutes to the Superior Avenue/East 36th Street stop, which is less than a two-minute walk to the event venue. Note: The Number 3 runs every 20 minutes until 2 a.m.
Tickets are available at from a link on the front page of www.af cleveland.org.
